About the position

As a Solutions Engineer at Cloudflare, you will serve as the technical lynchpin throughout the sales cycle, engaging with enterprise prospects and customers to ensure their success on the Cloudflare platform. Your role involves educating and empowering clients, providing technical expertise, and developing scalable solutions tailored to their needs. You will collaborate with various teams within Cloudflare to drive customer success and satisfaction, leveraging your knowledge of web and mobile security, performance, and Cloudflare's technology.

Responsibilities

  • Drive technical discussions and implementations to generate new business and expand existing business.
  • Qualify prospect and customer use cases and discover technical requirements.
  • Lead demonstrations and identify solutions for customer needs.
  • Collaborate on proofs-of-concept (PoCs) with prospects and customers.
  • Advise existing customers on technical best practices and implementation of Cloudflare products.
  • Provide strategic guidance on internet security and performance.
  • Work closely with sales, product, engineering, and customer support teams to advocate for customer needs.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and industry events, requiring 20-50% travel.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with a scripting language (e.g. Python, JavaScript, Bash, Lua, Go).
  • Expertise in internet technologies including OSI Model layers 1-7, BGP, GRE, TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP(S), SSL/TLS.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a customer-facing sales or consulting role.
  • Technical curiosity and passion for staying updated with industry trends and Cloudflare products.
  • Strong project management, relationship building, and emotional intelligence (EQ) skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience building or contributing to web applications.
  • Understanding of firewall roles and differences between L3, L4, and L7 firewalls.
  • Familiarity with command-line interfaces, RESTful APIs, and analyzing HTTP requests and responses.
  • Knowledge of CSRF, XSS, and SQLi vulnerabilities and Cloudflare's defenses against them.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SOC-2.
  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
