About the position

The Ribbon Field Support Engineering Technical Specialist will provide engineering and technical support to Ribbon customers for the installation, management, and maintenance of Ribbon's optical and data telecommunications products. Position will enact in-depth configuration and troubleshooting of Ribbon's optical DWDM networks along with Layer-2, Layer-3, IP/MPLS networks utilizing industry-standard test equipment. Interface with Tier 3 support teams at Ribbon R&D centers when necessary to resolve hardware and software problems. Perform equipment and network management SW upgrades. Provide technical support for Ribbon Field Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical support for Ribbon's optical and data telecommunications products.
• Perform in-depth configuration and troubleshooting of optical DWDM networks.
• Manage Layer-2, Layer-3, and IP/MPLS networks using industry-standard test equipment.
• Interface with Tier 3 support teams at Ribbon R&D centers to resolve hardware and software issues.
• Conduct equipment and network management software upgrades.
• Offer technical support to Ribbon Field Engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
• Experience in the configuration, operation, and testing of optical DWDM, Layer-2/3, and IP/MPLS networks.
• Knowledge of high-speed 100/400G optical networking interfaces and IP data protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, Segment Routing).
• Experience with Network Management Systems (NMS).
• Proficiency in Unix and Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of SNMP functionality and configuration, including use of MIB browser applications.
