About the position
The Environmental Field Technician position at Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) involves executing, supervising, and documenting field activities related to environmental monitoring, site assessment, remediation, and construction. The role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in various conditions. Technicians will perform tasks such as soil and groundwater sampling, equipment maintenance, and supervising contractors, all while adhering to safety standards and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Execute and supervise field aspects of environmental monitoring and site assessment.
- Perform soil and groundwater sampling activities.
- Assist with remedial system operation and maintenance.
- Complete well development activities.
- Maintain equipment calibration logs.
- Record field notes for tasks performed at each site location.
- Handle general warehouse and maintenance duties.
- Perform labor and construction duties based on project requirements.
- Supervise contractors on subsurface excavations, tank removals, and equipment installations.
- Follow GES engineering, construction, and O&M policies and procedures.
- Adhere to GES Health & Safety Standards in all field-related activities.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 0-4+ years of related fieldwork experience.
- Mechanical aptitude is required.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus (training provided if not earned).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to support project needs.
- Willingness to work outdoors and availability for weekends, including daytime and/or overnight work and short-term travel.
- Strong work ethic, detail-oriented, and a team player.
