About the position

The Field Technical Specialist is responsible for utilizing specialized knowledge to address both routine and complex service repair challenges within established guidelines. This role involves exercising independent judgment to identify and select appropriate solutions for various repair problems, while also managing critical technology areas and customer groups. The specialist will collaborate with team members, mentor less experienced employees, and build strong relationships with senior management in assigned accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced technical expertise to manage one or more critical or high-risk technology areas or customer groups.
  • Integrate technical knowledge with business understanding to develop solutions for customers.
  • Collaborate with team members to address complex incidents or customer situations.
  • Proactively and reactively seek solutions to prevent issues in team/technology areas.
  • Utilize client solutions to meet highly complex customer needs.
  • Identify additional services that could drive future service revenue growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships up to senior management levels in assigned accounts.
  • Assist in managing the delivery of service support solutions.
  • Lead customer expectation management as part of the escalation process.
  • Mentor or guide new or less experienced employees.

Requirements

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree or Associate degree in a technical field with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of HP Indigo products and services, client practices, competition, and third-party products.
  • Broad understanding of corporate organization, job roles, and policies.
  • Expert-level business, technical, or functional knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically up to senior management levels.
  • Active listening skills and the ability to tailor messages to the audience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills (proactive, reactive, and creative).
  • Exemplary consulting skills, becoming a trusted advisor to customers and providing clarity in solution determination.
  • Proficient in core technical competencies with advanced skills in some areas.
  • Ability to suggest operational efficiencies.
