About the position

The Field Technician I role at Lumen Technologies focuses on the installation and troubleshooting of next-generation technologies and equipment, particularly leveraging fiber solutions. The position involves managing dispatched workloads, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the functionality of critical infrastructure. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining tools and equipment, participating in training programs, and providing support to vendors.

Responsibilities

• Manage the dispatched workload of installs, troubles, and preventative maintenance tickets to meet standard delivery intervals.
• Install, turn-up, and decommission Customer Premise equipment and complex installations from vendors.
• Troubleshoot network equipment, remove/replace defective equipment, and work with resources to restore network functionality.
• Perform level 1 preventive scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment.
• Respond to communications from Customer Care and other partners regarding task status.
• Participate in Technician Training program to deepen technical knowledge.
• Perform other duties assigned by the management team.

Requirements

• Must have PC skills and be well versed in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
• High School Diploma or GED or up to 2 years of relevant job experience including 1+ years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
• Entry-level technician with experience and/or knowledge of at least one of the four major technician disciplines: Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, and Outside Plant.
• Must maintain site security and cleanliness.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; lift 50 lbs.; and work in all weather conditions.

Nice-to-haves
