About the position

The Field Technician position at Campbell Oil Company is a critical role within our Minuteman organization, focusing on the support and maintenance of technology in the field. The successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge of computer software, hardware, and various internet applications, networks, and operating systems. This role requires excellent troubleshooting abilities and a keen attention to detail, as the technician will be responsible for building, configuring, and maintaining technology to enhance business sustainability. The position is primarily field-based, requiring the technician to travel to client locations, typically within a two-hour drive, and involves the use of a company vehicle for this purpose. In this role, the technician will assist with field fuel and technology projects, install and configure equipment such as POS systems, DVR/NVR systems, cameras, handheld devices, network firewalls, switches, and fuel dispensers. The technician will also check computer hardware to ensure functionality, provide orientation and guidance to users on new software and equipment, and organize upgrades and maintenance schedules without disrupting ongoing work. Troubleshooting is a key function of this position, requiring the technician to diagnose and resolve issues, maintain records of repairs, and manage inventory effectively. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a high school diploma, with a college degree or equivalent work experience preferred. A minimum of three years of experience as an IT Technician or in a relevant position is required. The technician must demonstrate excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Responsibilities

  • Assist with and contribute to field fuel/technology projects.
  • Install, configure, and support equipment such as POS systems, DVR/NVR systems, cameras, handheld devices, network firewalls, switches, and fuel dispensers.
  • Check computer hardware (HDD, mouses, keyboards, etc.) to ensure functionality.
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.).
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule.
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders.
  • Manage proper inventory.
  • Manage maintenance on company vehicle.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as an IT Technician or relevant position.
  • Ability to travel to client locations as needed (drive is within 2 hours).
  • Proven experience as a field technician or relevant position.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication ability.

Nice-to-haves
