About the position

The Field Technician role at Lakeland Internet involves installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining wireless and fiber internet systems for residential and business customers. This position is crucial for ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining the high standards of service that Lakeland Internet is known for. Technicians will work directly with customers, providing technical support and education on services while adhering to safety protocols and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and assess installation requirements.
• Install and configure WISP and FISP hardware and software, including fiber splicing as needed.
• Ensure proper alignment and functionality of equipment such as routers, antennas, and fiber connections.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with internet connectivity, hardware, and software.
• Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal performance.
• Document all issues and resolutions in the company's ticketing system.
• Provide clear and professional communication to customers, explaining technical solutions and educating them on installed services.
• Follow safety protocols, including proper use of climbing equipment and adherence to industry standards.
• Complete all necessary paperwork, including work orders and completion forms.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience as a technician in a related field (preferred).
• Fiber splicing skills and tower climbing experience (preferred; training provided as needed).
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational education is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including DHCP, VLANs, and Wi-Fi.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, climb towers, and work in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
