About the position
The Electrical Field Test Technician role at Electric Power Systems involves inspecting, testing, and maintaining electrical substations and transmission switchyards. This position is crucial for ensuring the optimal functioning of electrical equipment in various sectors, including renewable energy and data centers. The technician will work with high, medium, and low voltage equipment, contributing to the safety and technical excellence of the power industry.
Responsibilities
- Performing High, Medium, and Low voltage testing of electrical power equipment.
- Consulting manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
- Preparing and maintaining reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and cleaning equipment and components in a substation.
Requirements
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
- Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift 70 lbs.
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
Nice-to-haves
- NETA certified a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronic technology, or Military experience preferred.
- Experience with test equipment such as Power Factor Ductor, Megger, CT ratio & saturation, Hi-Pot.
- Knowledge of Circuit Breakers, Transformers, Switchgear, Motors, PT's & CCVT's.
