Berkeley Lab's (LBNL) Environmental Genomics and Systems Biology (EGSB) Division is seeking a Filamentous Fungi Research Scientist to conduct innovative research focused on the movement of solutes and signals through mycorrhizal networks and interactions between fungi and other organisms. This role involves setting up, maintaining, and characterizing laboratory experiments to study filamentous fungi both in isolation and in association with plant hosts. The successful candidate will engage in fieldwork to extend laboratory findings, collaborating closely with principal investigators to track, coordinate, and manage program activities. Responsibilities will include preparing and publishing scientific findings, writing proposals and reports, and providing updates to stakeholders to secure and maintain funding. In this exciting position, you will be responsible for carrying out cutting-edge research in the signaling processes of filamentous fungi. You will write manuscripts and present status reports on scientific findings and project progress, as well as present research at international conferences and publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, you will contribute to grant proposals that lead to continued funding, mentor and train students and postdoctoral researchers, and provide lab management and logistics for shared resources and collaborative projects. Collaboration with other divisions within Berkeley Lab, national laboratories, and academic institutions will also be a key aspect of this role. Maintaining an accurate and detailed laboratory notebook of all work performed is essential to ensure reproducibility of results.
