About the position

As a FinOps Analyst at MetroStar, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, visualizing, and optimizing IT costs and utilization for cloud, platform, and DevSecOps products and solutions. This role is crucial in integrating IT and business, enabling cost transparency, showback, and chargeback to support both near-term and long-term planning and financial projections. You will collaborate closely with IT product teams to identify elements of total cost and measures of utilization, ensuring that financial insights are effectively communicated and utilized across the organization. Your responsibilities will include monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on costs and utilization across various products, cloud providers, and classification levels. You will develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track expenditures and utilization, identifying cost-saving opportunities and providing actionable recommendations for optimization. Additionally, you will analyze variances between actual spend and budgeted amounts, offering insights and corrective actions to enhance financial performance. Collaboration with finance and engineering teams will be essential to ensure accurate financial planning, and you will also identify opportunities for automation in FinOps to improve efficiency. Working with engineering teams, you will automate cost management and reporting processes, continuously exploring new tools and technologies that can enhance FinOps capabilities. This position is not just about numbers; it’s about making a significant impact on the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT product teams to identify elements of total cost and measures of utilization.

Requirements

  • Active TS//SCI with CI poly
  • 3+ years of experience in a FinOps, cloud financial management, or similar role.
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and metrics.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Expertise in Excel and financial reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Understanding of cloud economics and pricing models.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
