As a Financial Management Analyst for the Department of Defense, you will play a crucial role in the budget administration process. Your responsibilities will encompass various phases of budget management, including the formulation of budgets and estimates that support the organization's plans, programs, and activities. You will be tasked with analyzing and recommending the costs and benefits of alternative financial management methods for the organization's programs and administrative operations. This position requires you to implement legal and regulatory controls over approved budgets, ensuring compliance and effective management of financial resources. Additionally, you will provide expert advice on efficient methods for the acquisition and utilization of funds, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. In this role, you will be expected to demonstrate specialized experience in budget administration, which includes defending budget estimates before authorities, reviewing and evaluating budget requests, and controlling and reporting obligations and expenditures. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring that the financial operations align with the strategic goals of the Department of Defense. You will also be required to maintain a government credit card for travel-related purchases and may need to travel to various locations, including remote or isolated sites, using military and commercial aircraft for extended periods. This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA), and you will need to achieve Financial Management Level II certification within prescribed timelines. You will also be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance prior to your entrance on duty, which is essential for handling sensitive financial information.
