The Finance Accountant I position at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is an entry-level role focused on safeguarding the organization's assets through monthly accounting operations and internal controls. The role involves ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting, performing routine accounting duties related to job cost accounting, fixed assets, audit preparation, and general ledger account reconciliation. Responsibilities

• Supports the safeguarding of assets and reinforces accounting policies and procedures.
• Prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classification in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Reconciles, analyzes and reviews revenues, expenses and balance sheet accounts.
• Updates, reviews, reconciles and manages various accounts, balance sheets, general ledgers, statements and spreadsheets.
• Assists in the month-end close, including the review of financial statements.
• Reviews coding accuracy for assigned accounts.
• Identifies and reconciles account discrepancies.
• Assists with audit preparation (annual financial audit, Medicare cost report, and various payroll related audits).
• Complies with the regulatory standards, policies and procedures of accounting.
• Produces and processes invoices and receivables.
• Generates accounting reports as needed.
• Accountable for timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or progressively responsible professional work-related experience.
• Zero (0) years of experience required; this is an entry-level professional position.

• Knowledge of basic budgeting and accounting policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of applicable computer system software programs.
• Knowledge of healthcare operations including hospital and provider activities.
• Demonstrated skill in using Excel and PowerPoint.
