About the position

Panasonic Energy is seeking enthusiastic interns to join our creative team within the Finance department. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various facets of manufacturing, particularly in the finance and accounting sectors. Interns will be immersed in a dynamic environment where they will learn invaluable skills and acquire industry knowledge that will significantly enhance their professional profiles. The internship program is highly regarded in the field, making successful participation a noteworthy addition to any resume. The internship will be a full-time, paid position located at the Kansas City Metro Facility, specifically at the Gigafactory. The program is designed to last for 12 weeks, running from Monday, May 19th to Friday, August 8th, although these dates are subject to change. Interns are expected to commit to the entirety of the program, ensuring they gain the full benefit of the experience. Interns will work closely with the Cost Accounting team to develop more accurate standard costing methodologies and will collaborate with various teams to improve cost allocation between production sub-processes. They will also engage in month-end operational efficiency reviews, perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, create financial models for long-term projections, and prepare ad-hoc management financial reports. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on the processes they learn during their time with us. This role is not only about learning but also about contributing to the team's success and the overall mission of Panasonic Energy.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Cost Accounting team to create more accurate standard costing methodology
  • Collaborate with various teams to better allocate costing between production sub-processes
  • Perform month-end operational efficiency review (PPV, absorption, etc.)
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews/reconciliations
  • Create financial models for long-term projections
  • Prepare ad-hoc management financial reports
  • Create SOPs on learned processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Finance and Accounting or related field
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited four-year college or university
  • GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Basic knowledge of project management processes and tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
