About the position

The Finance & Accounting Junior Controller will oversee all financial accounting functions for Circular Polymers by Ascend, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires a CPA with expertise in US GAAP accounting and involves collaboration with various business managers and leadership teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a track record of process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
• Own and manage general ledger responsibilities and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Conduct and manage the month-end close process and provide/communicate monthly financials to Ascend US accounting team.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and conduct internal audits to maintain financial accuracy as it relates to all journal entries and transactions.
• Maintain balance sheet, asset register, and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare reconciliations between banking and accounting systems.
• Coordinate data/results with external auditors and accountants for reviews.
• Lead initiatives to optimize and streamline accounting processes.
• Work closely with US-based tax teams on state tax filings and compliance matters.

Requirements

• CPA certification (required or preferred).
• Experience with technical US GAAP and inventory valuation.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• QuickBooks (or similar software) experience is required.
• SAP ERP, SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC), SAP Business Intelligence (BI) experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate within the finance team and across departments.
