About the position

The Finance and Accounting Analyst 2 position at Oregon Health & Science University involves conducting financial analysis, variance analysis, budgeting, and planning. The role requires preparing annual budgets, analyzing financial data sets, and ensuring compliance with policies. The analyst will also develop policies and procedures, provide recommendations for improvements, and assist programs in financial transactions and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial analysis and variance analysis to support budgeting and planning processes.
  • Prepare annual budgets and review/analyze financial data sets.
  • Submit invoices to outside institutions and prepare necessary financial reports.
  • Run ad hoc queries to analyze financial data and ensure compliance with OHSU policies.
  • Develop policies and procedures, providing recommendations for improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience.
  • 36 hours of accounting courses or an accounting degree demonstrating proficiency in GAAP.
  • Prior experience in an Academic Health Center or relevant financial analysis.
  • Highly proficient with PC, including database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Intermediate spreadsheet skills, including complex functions and formulas.
  • Understanding of financial reporting concepts such as cost accounting and net present value analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for consulting with internal and external customers.

  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to financial matters.
