About the position

The Finance and Accounting Manager at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is responsible for overseeing financial operations within the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. This role involves advising the Dean on financial matters, ensuring compliance with fiscal policies, and managing resources to support the College's educational, research, and clinical objectives. The position also includes supervising staff and enhancing organizational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the Dean on all financial matters and represent the College on strategic financial operations.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility and management of all funds of the College.
  • Supervise the accountant and provide financial support for sponsored projects.
  • Implement and oversee financial policies and procedures related to the University’s financial systems.
  • Monitor clinic billing and collection activities.
  • Serve as a resource for the Clinic Manager on financial matters related to clinic operations.
  • Prepare financial support and oversight for all College departments and clinics.
  • Manage purchasing activities and adherence to purchasing policy.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of College and clinic budgets.
  • Develop and recommend organizational policies relevant to financial management.
  • Serve as a liaison between the College and the campus regarding financial operations.
  • Strategically manage and evaluate the College's resources.
  • Advise senior leadership on effective resource utilization.
  • Participate in financial planning activities for the College.
  • Work with Department Chairs and Deans to analyze and report on programs and ventures.
  • Oversee employment processes and promote a healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Finance or Accounting (or related area) from an accredited institution.
  • Proven track record in directing and implementing budget and financial strategies.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Out-patient health care accounting experience and/or experience in a higher education environment is helpful.
