About the position

The Finance and HR Manager at the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority (NMPSIA) is responsible for overseeing the financial and human resource functions of the agency. This includes managing budget preparation, accounting, recruitment, employee benefits, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The role also involves serving as a backup to the Chief Procurement Officer and providing financial services to a large membership base of educational entities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Prepare appropriation requests, operating budgets, and budget projections.
• Conduct reconciliations and work with auditors on financial and performance audits.
• Present financial information to the NMPSIA Board and other entities.
• Supervise 2 FTE, including evaluations and ensuring efficient operations of the financial section.
• Manage all HR functions including recruitment, hiring, retention, training, and employee benefits.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in any field from an accredited college or university.
• Six years of professional level experience related to the position.
• Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in budget projections and SHARE financials including Accounts Payable and Receivable.
• Experience in risk management and employee benefits accounting.
• Supervisory experience.
