About the position

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Finance and Operations Coordinator to join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This full-time position is integral to supporting the department's finance and operations, as well as managing sponsored research administration transactions. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing various financial transactions, including deposits, cost transfers, and purchase orders. They will compile, track, and enter all Oracle LD and Costing allocations, as well as manage effort certification and student travel processes. Additionally, the coordinator will handle student Workday transactions, scholarship processing, and provide support for student HUB accounts. The role also involves setting up, monitoring, and reporting on various funds such as the Dean's Fellowship and travel grants, as well as supporting course purchasing and arrangements. The Finance and Operations Coordinator will be expected to engage effectively with a diverse population, reflecting the university's commitment to inclusion and cultural sensitivity. Responsibilities

  • Process financial transactions including deposits, cost transfers, and purchase orders.
  • Compile, track, and enter all Oracle LD and Costing allocations.
  • Manage effort certification and student travel processes.
  • Process student Workday transactions for PhD, hourly research, TAS, and graders.
  • Handle scholarship processing and provide support for student HUB accounts.
  • Set up, monitor, and report on Dean's Fellowship and travel grants.
  • Support course purchasing and arrangements.
  • Manage student organization accounting and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of experience with administrative support.
  • Excellent problem-solving, reasoning, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Workday system.
  • Familiarity with Oracle financial systems.
