About the position

The Finance Assistant at World Relief plays a crucial role in supporting the VR&P team and Finance Specialist by managing day-to-day financial operations, particularly focusing on direct financial assistance and payments to refugees and clients. This position is integral to ensuring accurate fund management and timely delivery of services, contributing to the organization's mission of aiding vulnerable communities.

Responsibilities

  • Process refugee payment requests using financial database and system to confirm delivery.
  • Ensure accurate and timely request and approval of client prepaid card orders for the virtual R&P program.
  • Oversee the prepaid card order process from initiation to completion.
  • Enter payments in the ERP system for virtual R&P expenses.
  • Oversee and update new vendors/clients set up process in the ERP system.
  • Prepare weekly card requests and entity creation reports working closely with caseworkers to ensure all assigned clients' orders placed.
  • Process invoices, payments, and expense claims in the ERP system.
  • Ensure all payments and transactions are allocated accounting codes accurately.
  • Support R&P team members in their day-to-day assigned tasks as related to finance.
  • Collaborate closely with the admin assistant, case specialists and supervisors for the Virtual R&P program as needed.
  • Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and status of client's payment.
  • Assist in preparing grant spending reports.
  • Assist Finance Specialist in monitoring and tracking GiveCard delivery status to ensure timely disbursement to clients.
  • Assist Finance Specialist for monitoring the actual expenditures of VR&P administrative budget, client's funds, Homelessness Prevention Funds, and other financial reports as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Relief's Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Working knowledge of accounting software
  • Experience working with 3rd party pre-paid card services
  • Experience with cloud-based planning tools (Power BI) and ERP systems is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with colleagues and partners
  • Strong cultural sensitivity and ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Adaptability, ability to work well under pressure, and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Experience working in a remote environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Personal Christian Faith and a heart for service to vulnerable people
  • At least 2 years of professional proven work experience in accounting or finance roles required, particularly in the refugee resettlement field or non-profit sector
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the US resettlement program
