About the position

The Finance/Budget Manager at Washington State University serves as the principal fiscal advisor for the Department of Entomology, providing comprehensive financial and administrative management. The successful candidate will utilize independent judgment to analyze problems and implement effective solutions, relying on their finance, budget, and management skills to accomplish work through account analysis, reconciliation, and balance maintenance. Delegating duties, responsibilities, and authority to others is also a key aspect of this role, ensuring that the department operates efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal fiscal advisor for the Department of Entomology.
  • Manage and administer accounting information systems functions.
  • Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties specified, including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet, database, word processing, e-mail, and calendaring software.
  • Experience with budget, personnel, and management of financial resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with preparing financial reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • More than 2 years of fiscal experience in an academic department in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with WSU systems.
  • Experience with the Workday system.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using computerized accounting information systems and/or applications software.
