About the position

Community Warehouse (CW) is a nonprofit furniture bank dedicated to redistributing donated furniture and household goods to individuals and families overcoming adversity. The Finance Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting all departments with daily business office responsibilities, ensuring a positive and efficient operating environment. This position involves a blend of administrative and financial duties, contributing to the overall mission of the organization. The Finance Coordinator will work closely with the Operations and Finance Manager to address staff needs and assist with various special projects as required. In terms of administrative responsibilities, the Finance Coordinator will process incoming and outgoing mail, organize and file documents, and respond to staff inquiries related to the business office. Financially, the role includes processing bills, checks, and cash receipts, managing accounts receivable, entering accounts payable, and assisting with the compilation of financial records for audits and taxes. The Finance Coordinator will also support year-end closing procedures and other special projects as needed. This position is designed for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to the goals and mission of Community Warehouse. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. They will also have a solid understanding of nonprofit accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities

  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Organize and file documents

  • Manage Accounts Receivable and communicate/send invoices to customers/partner agencies
  • Enter Accounts Payable and communicate with vendors
  • Compile financial records for audit and taxes
  • Assist with year-end closing procedures

Requirements

  • 1 year of accounting experience
  • 1 year of experience with GAAP
  • 1 year of experience in non-profit accounting
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
