About the position

The Data Governance Foundation Sr. Group Manager is a senior-level role responsible for managing a team that facilitates the Enterprise Data Governance Strategy and Data Risk and Control Framework. This position involves defining the enterprise data governance strategy, aligning it with business and regulatory requirements, and ensuring adherence to industry best practices. The role requires excellent communication skills for internal negotiations and some external interactions, focusing on driving progress and articulating the governance strategy to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy that aligns with the organization's business and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with business/function/regional partners to understand and align Data Governance and/or Data Risk and Control related work.
  • Manage and lead Data Governance and/or Data Risk and Control policies, practices, and standards including industry best practices.
  • Drive progress and provide guidance for adherence and continued development of enterprise-wide guiding policies, practices, and standards.
  • Develop materials to effectively and concisely articulate progress on the Data Governance strategy and/or Data Risk and Control framework for senior leadership, internal audit, and regulatory updates.
  • Liaise with metrics team to articulate clear requirements for objective measures necessary to support Data Governance storylines with key stakeholders.
  • Full management responsibility for a team or multiple teams, including management of people, performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, terminations, and budget approval.

Requirements

  • 15+ years relevant experience in Banking, Financial Services, with 8-10+ years' managerial experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in building processes to manage and implement policies, standards, and industry practices at a function level.
  • Experience in interactions and responding to internal audit and regulators inquiries.
  • Experience in building Data Governance Operating Model with a focus on Data Quality to define roles, responsibilities, and processes.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to foresee future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies.
  • Communicates effectively, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences; able to drive consensus and influence relationships at all levels.
  • Can effectively lead change in an organization with Citigroup's size, scale, and complexity; experience leveraging the processes and principles of change management to drive organizational change.
  • Manage through ambiguity by making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizations; demonstrates effective work relationships with business and global function colleagues.
  • Experience creating and executing against frameworks that improve the quality and value of data to meet regulatory commitments and enhance risk management.
  • Experience leveraging glossary, lineage, and data quality tools to drive governance.
  • Experience creating and being a champion for a positive risk culture that supports sustainable business growth.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Understanding of the overall regulatory environment and previous experience working with regulators on data plan execution.
