About the position

The Finance Director for Global Vaccines at Merck Sharp & Dohme is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for providing Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and strategic advisement to the Human Health Marketing organization. This role involves forecasting, budgeting, life cycle management, and financial evaluation, while collaborating with various cross-functional teams to identify and execute strategic opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and demonstrate strong communication and strategic thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FP&A activities, including financial functional support to external partnerships.
  • Provide strategic and financial insight on key business decisions and new initiatives; develop, evaluate, and present business cases to senior leaders.
  • Partner with commercial, manufacturing, research, and finance colleagues across the enterprise to drive analytics that optimize capacity, pipeline, and commercial investments.
  • Lead a team of two finance professionals and build talent within the team, providing guidance and feedback to support team members' development goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or related field.
  • At least 5 years in a finance role providing direct support to internal business customers (e.g., Marketing, Manufacturing, Research).
  • Minimum of 10 years in the pharmaceutical, technology, marketing, or sales industries.
  • Strong compliance focus, financial acumen/modeling skills, analytical skills, and knowledge of finance systems and planning and reporting processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build diverse peer and client relationships and influence outcomes.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA, CPA or other Master's/PhD in Business, Finance or Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic guidance for evolving operating models.
  • Strong people management experience, building, managing, and motivating teams in a challenging and complex environment.
  • Passion and intellectual curiosity with respect to the healthcare industry.
