About the position

The Director of Finance is responsible for driving the financial planning and control of the subsidiary or subsidiaries at all business sites by analyzing its performance and risk. This role requires constant awareness of the company’s financial position and proactive measures to prevent potential issues. The Director will conduct analyses to make forecasts and report findings to subsidiary and business group leadership. Timely and detailed reports on financial performance will be prepared on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The Director oversees and manages project costs and schedules for both direct and indirect projects, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting standards. In this position, the Director of Finance will address tight deadlines and manage a multitude of activities, including cost-related Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), cost control, scheduling, earned value management (EVM) reporting, pricing, financial reporting related to customer contracts, and the annual preparation of budgets and indirect rates. The Director will report directly to the group President and serve as the primary advisor on all financial matters at the group level, maintaining direct contact with executive-level managers within the subsidiaries and the Holding Company. Essential functions include advising subsidiary Presidents and Business Group Executives on financial matters to ensure financial goals are met, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget through predictive metrics and financial analysis, and timely reporting of all monthly financial information. The Director will also monitor indirect spending related to company and contract budgeted indirect rates, collaborate with other department managers to support overall goals, and develop more efficient procedures while maintaining accuracy. This role involves responding to inquiries from the Holding Company and assisting in the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance workflow. Training for new and existing staff is also a key responsibility, along with handling personnel issues and establishing goals for direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Advise subsidiary Presidents and Business Group Executives on financial matters to achieve financial goals.
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget through predictive metrics and financial analysis.
  • Prepare and report all monthly financial information internally and externally.
  • Monitor and advise on indirect spending related to budgeted indirect rates.
  • Collaborate with department managers to support overall goals and objectives.
  • Analyze department work to develop efficient procedures and resource use.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance workflow.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Handle personnel issues related to staff conflicts and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing personnel.
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
  • Relevant experience can substitute for a degree (4 years for a Bachelor's, 5 years for a Master's).
