About the position

This position is incentive eligible and will be based on-site in our Brentwood Division office located in Nashville, TN. Candidates must either reside in Nashville or be willing to relocate. HCA Healthcare is one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services, comprising over 180 hospitals and about 2,000 sites of care across 21 states and the United Kingdom. We are seeking a Finance Director who embodies excellence and is committed to creating a culture of excellence within our organization. The Finance Director will play a crucial role in organizing and maintaining the financial accounting systems for the group, ensuring a seamless interface between the group's accounting system and the corporate financial accounting system. This position will involve establishing operating policies and overseeing the financial activities of the operating units and consolidated business offices, which include accounts payable, general ledger, accounts receivable, employee payroll, cash disbursements, financial statements, and tax information. The Finance Director will collaborate closely with the VP of Finance and department staff to develop plans and objectives regarding short and long-range accounting programs, including month-end close, budgeting, profit and loss analysis, accounting systems, reporting, and internal auditing. This role will also require maintaining the group's chart of accounts, controlling the assignment of entity numbers, and developing accounting policies and procedures that ensure timely payments to creditors and proper recording of cash receipts. Additionally, the Finance Director will work with the CFO to develop and approve financial statements and coordinate the corporate internal audit program to ensure that internal financial controls are regularly tested and adhered to. This position offers an opportunity to lead special projects in forecasting, performance to budget, and financial analysis, while also interacting with Information Services on computer operations related to financial activities. The Finance Director will assist in the selection and training of accounting/finance department personnel, ensuring adherence to the company’s Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain the financial accounting systems for the group.
  • Coordinate the interface of the group's accounting system with the corporate financial accounting system.
  • Establish operating policies and oversee financial activities of operating units and consolidated business offices.
  • Develop plans and objectives with the VP of Finance regarding accounting programs.
  • Coordinate the group's financial accounting functions to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial information.
  • Maintain the group's chart of accounts and control the assignment of entity numbers.
  • Develop operating units' accounting policy and procedures for timely payments and proper recording of cash receipts.
  • Work with the CFO to develop and approve financial statements and analyze budget variances.
  • Coordinate the corporate internal audit program and ensure internal financial controls are tested regularly.
  • Direct the preparation of statistical information and reports for management and operations team.
  • Lead special projects in forecasting, performance to budget, and financial analysis.
  • Interact with Information Services on financial activities related to computer operations.
  • Assist with the selection and training of accounting/finance department personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related area.
  • More than 7 years of professional experience in accounting and auditing as a supervisor.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare organization.
  • CPA certification preferred.
