About the position

BAE Systems Inc. is currently seeking a Finance Director to join our Ordnance Systems Inc. (OSI) business at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, VA. This role is pivotal as the Site Finance Lead, providing comprehensive financial leadership and guidance within OSI Radford, which is part of the Platforms & Services Sector of BAE Systems. The Finance Director will be responsible for supporting and advising Business Area Leadership on various financial matters, including production, facility management, and modernization programs, ensuring that all financial commitments are met. This position requires timely and accurate reporting of financial information to OSI management, including Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), Integrated Business Planning (IBP), Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), and any other ad hoc financial requirements. Additionally, the Finance Director will manage the Accounting and Finance organization staff within OSI Radford, ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will be located close to Radford, VA, but we are open to considering other locations. The first six months of the role will require onsite travel to Radford, VA every two weeks, transitioning to monthly travel thereafter. The position operates on a 9/80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off, which promotes a healthy work-life balance while fulfilling the responsibilities of the role. In this capacity, the Finance Director will advise management on all financial matters related to the Radford plant, including indirect costs, production, operations and maintenance (O&M), modernization programs (construction), and Internal Research and Development (IRAD) and Contract Research and Development (CRAD) programs. The role requires adherence to all legal, ethical, and company requirements, including compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures, and US government regulations such as the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

Responsibilities

  • Advise management of all financial matters across the Radford plant including indirect costs, Production, O&M, modernization programs (construction), and IRAD/CRAD programs.
  • Operate in accordance with all legal, ethical, and Company requirements, including Company policies and procedures, Standard Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Department Instructions as well as USG regulations found in FAR and CAS.
  • Participate in the hiring process and is responsible for assigning tasks, counseling, training, developing, and evaluating a team of Accounting and Finance professionals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data, the preparation of annual operating plans, periodic forecasts, budgets, and various other financial activities within the Radford operation.
  • Coordinate with other finance and functional groups to assure consistency and integrity of data.
  • Minimize total cost in assigned financial area through review of required output, efficiency of operations, and assignment of appropriate and capable personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Program Finance and Cost Accounting and supporting line operations in achieving business area objectives
  • Experience in Program/Project Management
  • Experience in People Management/Leadership
  • Good planning, time management, and organization skills
  • Sound interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with Company personnel, customers, and suppliers
  • Ability to communicate effectively and recommend strategic business decisions to senior and executive level leadership
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations
