About the position

The Finance Director at Precision Metal Products will play a crucial role in partnering with the VP/General Manager and the leadership team to drive both commercial and operational results while implementing business process improvements. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in a larger manufacturing environment, where sound business processes and practices are paramount. The Finance Director will oversee all aspects of financial planning and analysis, reporting, and the month-end close processes, ensuring that the financial health of the organization is maintained and enhanced. In this role, the Finance Director will collaborate closely with business leadership to support and drive commercial outcomes such as orders, pricing, sales, and profitability, as well as operational metrics including productivity, on-time delivery, and working capital management. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions when key performance indicators (KPIs) or financial metrics fall short of commitments or targets. This position also involves coordinating and preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reporting requirements, as well as leading the preparation of various forecasts and the annual operating plan. The Finance Director will ensure data integrity and consistency across all plants and systems, working in conjunction with IT and finance teams to streamline and automate reporting and forecasting processes. Additionally, this role includes coordinating monthly business performance review meetings for the Precision Component Group, overseeing the monthly close process, and managing account reconciliation. The Finance Director will also direct the annual revision of product costs, oversee physical inventory counts, and monitor cycle count programs. A key aspect of this role is to lead and coach the finance and accounting team, fostering top-grade performance, timely results, and career development opportunities. Furthermore, the Finance Director will partner with the corporate ERP team to implement Microsoft D365 across Precision Component operations, anticipated to commence in 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leadership to support and drive commercial and operational results.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions when KPIs or financials are behind commitments or targets.
  • Coordinate and prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reporting requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of various forecast requirements and the completion of the annual operating plan.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency throughout the plants and systems.
  • Work with IT and finance teams to streamline and automate reporting and forecasting processes.
  • Coordinate the monthly business performance review meeting for the Precision Component Group.
  • Oversee the monthly close process and account reconciliation process.
  • Direct the annual revision of product costs and monitor physical inventory counts at the plants.
  • Lead and coach the finance and accounting team for top-grade performance and career development.
  • Partner with the corporate ERP Team to implement Microsoft D365 across Precision Component operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in finance, with a minimum of 5 years in a medium-to-large manufacturing company.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to identify, manage, and lead business improvement projects.
  • Strong leadership skills to lead and develop talent.
  • Comfortable holding peers accountable while supporting corrective actions.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical competency.
  • CPA or CMA license strongly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains, JobBOSS, or D365 would be considered a plus.
