About the position

The Finance Director for the City of San Leandro will oversee the Finance Department, which consists of three divisions: Administration, Accounting Operations, and Revenue, Budget, and Compliance. This role is crucial for ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability and requires a blend of technical financial expertise and strong leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of municipal finance and will be responsible for managing a team of 18 staff members and a significant operating budget.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Finance Department and its three divisions: Administration, Accounting Operations, and Revenue, Budget, and Compliance.
• Ensure long-term fiscal sustainability through effective financial modeling and forecasting.
• Lead and manage a team of 18 full-time staff members.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the city administration and other departments.

Requirements

• Minimum of six years of increasingly responsible experience in municipal finance, accounting, or a related field.
• At least four years of experience in a management capacity.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
