About the position

The Finance Governance/Compliance/SOX Manager at BAE Systems is responsible for managing the implementation of common processes across the Finance function, ensuring compliance with financial controls and regulations. This role involves coordinating with various teams to maintain high levels of compliance while minimizing duplication of efforts. The manager will also oversee the Finance Process Document System Library and work on compliance-oriented projects related to upcoming UK SOX requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of common processes across the Finance function.
  • Coordinate with the Finance organization, other functional organizations, and the business systems team during process implementation.
  • Work closely with the Sector Financial Controls lead to address compliance and controls in process design and implementation.
  • Deliver and maintain relevant Finance Process Document System Library (PDSL) content.
  • Maintain the I&S Finance process master control document.
  • Work on compliance-oriented projects to prepare for future UK SOX requirements.
  • Manage and contribute to projects as assigned by the Controller.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a U.S. Government contracting environment.
  • Working knowledge of Finance/Accounting with experience in compliance roles.
  • Ability to communicate and influence all levels of the organization regarding process development and implementation.
  • Ability to drive change to closure efficiently and timely.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and problem-solve effectively.
  • Ability to manage projects, including developing and adhering to budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to manage interpersonal relations and conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to use objectivity, creativity, and analytical skills for problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field of study.
  • 10 years in Finance roles in a U.S. Government contracting environment.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Experience with Sarbanes Oxley - SOX.
