About the position

The Finance Manager AP Accounting at Amazon will play a crucial role in supporting the Global Finance Business Services Accounting organization. This position involves partnering with Global Operations and Accounting teams to identify controllership and compliance risks, while also driving improvements in operational and accounting processes. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong technical accounting skills, with a focus on delivering positive change and enhancing customer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate monthly results in collaboration with accounting and finance teams, identifying unusual variances and business drivers.
• Highlight accounting improvement opportunities and partner with operations and accounting teams for implementation.
• Coordinate with operations and accounting teams across various global locations to ensure effective communication and best practices.
• Influence business decisions through effective communication, data-driven analysis, and presentation of alternatives.
• Provide comprehensive accounting requirements for projects and ensure successful engagement for project launches.
• Maintain effective communication with internal and external business partners.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
• 5+ years of experience in multiple finance and accounting roles.
• Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets for business decision-making.
• Experience in creating process improvements through automation and analysis.
• Experience in continuous improvement projects to enhance controllership with measurable results.
• CPA certification.
• Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects.
• Experience with Oracle, Essbase, TM1, and similar tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data and implementing escalation plans.
• Experience in solving complex business challenges with accurate financial models and recommendations.
• Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools such as SQL, MS Access, and financial systems like Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards.
