About the position

The Finance Manager for AWS Containers & Serverless Compute at Amazon is a pivotal role responsible for full P&L management and business partnering within the AWS organization. This position involves close collaboration with finance management and various business units to drive financial analysis, controllership, and strategic decision-making for AWS's serverless compute offerings. The successful candidate will implement core financial processes, conduct risk assessments, and lead ad-hoc business projects, all while influencing key stakeholders through data-driven insights.

Responsibilities

  • Build out and enhance P&L models, develop business insights and KPI dashboards, and lead ad hoc analyses.
  • Support new business initiatives/products/feature launches; understand cost models and drive pricing decisions.
  • Provide revenue deep analytics and communicate effectively to senior business team leaders.
  • Take the lead in financial planning and analysis; building complex financial models and analytical tools to measure overall financial performance, including short and long range financial/operational forecasts, and communicating results to senior management.
  • Manage financial controllership, lead reviews of financial metrics, analyze variances, synthesize key business drivers, and communicate them to senior management in business terms and influence them through presenting actionable drivers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
  • 5+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • 5+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL
  • MBA, or CPA
  • 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
  • 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
  • 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
  • 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience.
