About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Finance Manager to join the AWS Database services team. This role is pivotal in driving planning, pricing analysis, decision support, and controllership for future investments. The Finance Manager will collaborate closely with the executive team, product management, and engineering to provide insightful analysis and ensure effective financial management within the Database business.

Responsibilities

  • Build out and enhance P&L models for new and existing services, develop business insights and key metric dashboards, and lead ad hoc analyses.
  • Create, maintain and improve profitability and management reporting.
  • Drive the financial planning / budgeting process.
  • Analyze new business ideas, make analytical judgments, and provide data-intensive analyses to drive meaningful change.
  • Drive pricing decisions and strategic decision supports.
  • Identify and influence cost-saving opportunities and drive execution with the business team.
  • Compile and review financial results and operational plans and communicate results to company leaders.
  • Lead key analytical projects that assist and influence the business.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

Nice-to-haves

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL
  • 5+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
  • 5+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
