About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Finance Manager to be a key member of the Database Service (Non-Relational) team. This role will own end-to-end Finance support including P&L management and planning. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving strategic new feature launches and process improvements across the organization. The Finance Manager will need to communicate effectively and manage multiple, time-sensitive deliverables across a highly matrixed organization, while also managing risks and opportunities. Strong business partnership skills are essential, as the individual will collaborate effectively with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and success in financial initiatives. In this role, the Finance Manager will take the lead in financial planning, building complex financial models and analytical tools to measure overall financial performance. They will own end-to-end P&L management and influence business decisions that drive revenue and/or capital expenditures. The Finance Manager will also support strategic new feature launches and respond to ad-hoc requests from finance and business leadership. Identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, including automation and coordination with upstream and downstream organizations, will be a critical aspect of this position. Additionally, the Finance Manager will partner with Finance teams across AWS to standardize, streamline, and prioritize improvements, remove roadblocks, and increase the reliability and efficiency of reporting. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead in financial planning; build complex financial models and analytical tools to measure overall financial performance
• Own end-to-end P&L management, and influence business decisions that drive revenue and/or capital expenditures
• Support strategic new features launch and ad-hoc requests and assist in various requests from finance and business leadership
• Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements including automation and coordination with upstream and downstream organizations
• Partner with Finance teams across AWS to standardize, streamline, and prioritize improvements, remove roadblocks, and increase the reliability and efficiency of reporting

Requirements

• 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
• Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
• Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Nice-to-haves

• 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
• 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
• MBA, or CPA
• Knowledge of SQL/ETL
• 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
• 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
• 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
• 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
