About the position

The Finance Manager for North America Customer Fulfillment Capital at Amazon is responsible for overseeing the financial close of a complex multi-billion-dollar network. This role involves partnering with various cross-functional teams to drive cost-effective operations while ensuring compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements. The Finance Manager will play a key role in continuous improvement and standardization of financial processes, providing insights and solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in month-end close and quarter-end close controllership activities in compliance with Governance, Risk & Compliance procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of processes, including implementation of best practices in the controllership area.
  • Prepare key insights in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner as a highly trusted source of information about financial data, processes, and business operations.
  • Identify and implement solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes.
  • Make thoughtful time management decisions independently, prioritizing work, resolving issues, and meeting deadlines.
  • Discern between urgent and non-urgent issues and act accordingly to solve them.
  • Participate in events, initiatives, and projects, sharing gained knowledge in and outside of the team.
  • Contribute to work-life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)
  • 5+ years of finance/accounting experience, or Master's degree and 3+ years of finance/accounting experience

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA and/or Professional certification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CPA)
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL
  • Experience delivering budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
  • Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel
