About the position

The Finance Manager role at Amazon is pivotal in overseeing the financial close for the North America Customer Fulfillment (NACF) organization, which operates a complex multi-billion-dollar network. This position requires a strategic understanding of financial processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements while driving continuous improvement and standardization across finance operations. The Finance Manager will collaborate with various teams, including Fixed Asset/Lease Accounting, Supply Chain, and Engineering, to support decision-making and optimize financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in month-end close and quarter-end close controllership activities in compliance with Governance, Risk & Compliance procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of processes, including implementation of best practices in the controllership area.
  • Prepare key insights in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner as a highly trusted source of information about financial data, processes, and business operations.
  • Identify and implement solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes.
  • Make thoughtful time management decisions independently, prioritizing work, resolving issues, and meeting deadlines.
  • Discern between urgent and non-urgent issues and act accordingly to solve them.
  • Participate in events, initiatives, and projects, sharing gained knowledge in and outside of the team.
  • Contribute to work-life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)
  • 5+ years of finance/accounting experience, or Master's degree and 3+ years of finance/accounting experience

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA and/or Professional certification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CPA)
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL
  • Experience delivering budgeting, variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
  • Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel
