About the position

This position is incentive eligible and will be based on-site in our Brentwood Division office located in Nashville, TN. Candidates must either reside in Nashville or be willing to relocate. HCA Healthcare is one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services, comprising over 180 hospitals and about 2,000 sites of care across 21 states and the United Kingdom. We are seeking a Finance Manager for our Hospital Based Services team, where excellence creates excellence. The Finance Manager will be responsible for having a detailed knowledge of the financial and accounting systems used by HCA Physician Services, as well as corporate systems. This role involves assisting the Director of Finance in developing, compiling, and analyzing statistical data, identifying trends, formulating conclusions, and preparing complete and accurate financial statements and statistical reports to support executive decision-making processes. The Finance Manager will also serve as a financial controller for clinic-level operations and act as a mentor for all staff and senior accountants. Key duties include supervising and coordinating financial services such as monthly and annual closing cycles, general ledger accounting and reconciliation, budget review, and clinic internal controls. The Finance Manager will develop plans and objectives with the CFO, Director of Finance, and department staff regarding short and long-range financial and accounting programs in areas such as budgeting, profit and loss analysis, accounting systems, reporting, and internal auditing. Additionally, the role requires ensuring the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all financial reports related to HCAPS, coordinating with management and financial personnel in creating annual capital and operating budgets, and analyzing standard monthly financial and statistical reports to recommend operational changes for maximizing effectiveness and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate monthly and annual closing cycles, general ledger accounting and reconciliation, budget review, and clinic internal controls.
  • Develop plans and objectives with the CFO, Director of Finance, and department staff regarding financial and accounting programs.
  • Guarantee accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all financial reports related to HCAPS.
  • Coordinate with management and financial personnel in the creation of annual capital and operating budgets.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate personnel to ensure quality of service and technical expertise.
  • Work with administration staff and Information Systems to develop financial and operating reports.
  • Analyze standard monthly financial and statistical reports and recommend changes to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Monitor the performance of existing physician contracts and ensure all contractual obligations are met.
  • Analyze practices and operational indicators to determine best practices and areas for improvement.
  • Analyze trends in net revenue and A/R, ensuring accurate reporting and instilling process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related area.
  • More than 3 years of professional experience in accounting and/or auditing as a supervisor, including two years in a healthcare organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves
