About the position

The Finance Manager - Operations is responsible for overseeing accounting and financial reporting within the organization. This role involves reviewing and analyzing financial statements, focusing on cost of sales, manufacturing variances, and inventory valuation. The position requires a strong understanding of standard costing and manufacturing operations, as well as the ability to lead and develop a team of finance professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, train, and develop direct reports including accountants and accounts payable/receivable staff.
  • Compute and analyze capitalized raw material variances, production variances, labor, and overhead.
  • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and documentation within an SAP B1 environment.
  • Determine costs and efficiency of company purchasing activities and report vendor rebates accurately.
  • Collect and compile purchasing data for analysis and recommend cost savings.
  • Perform all areas of standard costing including development of raw material standards and reconciliation between standard and actual costs.
  • Conduct inventory transactional accounting and reporting.
  • Monitor facility activities and provide assistance and recommendations.
  • Identify areas for improvement in policies, procedures, and operating methods.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with tax reporting requirements and financial regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and accounting, preferably in cost and/or plant accounting.
  • Experience with SAP B1 is required.
  • Prior team management experience with a proven track record of developing and mentoring staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of GAAP related to Inventory and Cost of Sales.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities.
  • Solid project management capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA or other relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Experience in manufacturing operations is preferred.
