We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Finance Manager to join our Transportation Management Operations (TOM) Finance team. This role is pivotal in leading the over-the-road driving program, providing an exciting opportunity to innovate and enhance the transportation experience for our customers. The Finance Manager will have significant impact and visibility into the long-term strategy of the business, necessitating strong collaboration with Operations, Finance, Accounting, and Technology teams. This position not only opens doors to senior roles across various business areas but also offers project management and management opportunities on local, regional, and global scales. In this role, you will tackle complex challenges that require a comprehensive understanding of financial models, data analysis, and strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for orchestrating a seamless transportation system, akin to conducting a symphony, where every element must work in harmony. Your analytical skills will be crucial in identifying gaps in processes and swiftly resolving issues. As a trusted business advisor, you will help others understand financial implications and drive improvements that benefit the entire organization. The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and the capacity to influence stakeholders effectively. Regular interaction with executives and various business units will allow you to showcase your communication skills, both written and verbal, while you work to enhance business effectiveness and innovate solutions using large-scale data mining tools.

Responsibilities

  • Build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results and drive improvements.
  • Deliver weekly/monthly financial reports using financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to manage large data sets.
  • Create effective business partnerships, manage competing priorities, and provide guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events.
  • Communicate data clearly and concisely, adjusting style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues.
  • Collect and analyze quantitative data to develop reports that drive cost reductions.
  • Participate in hiring, developing, and mentoring peers and team members, leveraging diverse perspectives in all activities.
  • Identify opportunities to resolve defects proactively and improve finance tools across teams and organizations.
  • Lead special projects team on network-wide initiatives, leveraging technology to improve cost performance and safety.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science).
  • 5+ years of finance experience, or a Master's degree and 3+ years of finance experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6+ years of experience identifying incomplete or inaccurate data and creating/implementing an escalation plan.
  • 6+ years of experience solving complex business challenges with accurate and timely financial models and analysis.
  • MBA or CPA certification.
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL.
  • Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
  • Experience in delivering forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and data interpretation.
