About the position

The Financial Manager at Montana Rock Works is responsible for overseeing critical financial functions within a dynamic mining and manufacturing organization. This role involves ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic decision-making to manage the company's financial health and performance. The Financial Manager will work closely with leadership to provide insights and support key business objectives, making it ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and prepare financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
• Prepare summary analysis monthly, quarterly, & yearly.
• Develop, monitor, and manage budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals.
• Oversee cost accounting, inventory management, and financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, & federal governments.
• Streamline and enhance accounting processes, systems, and controls.
• Perform necessary tax planning, audits, and corporate compliance activities.
• Collaborate with operations teams to drive financial performance and cost efficiency.
• Partner with senior management on strategic planning and investment decisions.
• Supervise accounting staff (currently 1 staff member).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 5+ years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably within the manufacturing, mining, or similar industries.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• A proactive and adaptable leader with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
• Detail oriented and ability to deliver on critical deadlines.
