About the position

The Finance Manager at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, including preparing monthly financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards. This role involves maintaining payroll processes, preparing budgets, and serving as a liaison for financial reporting with BBBS of America. The Finance Manager will also recommend improvements to financial processes and ensure effective internal controls are in place.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for internal management and the board of directors.
  • Administer and process receipts, accounts payable, and grant invoices/transactions.
  • Oversee payroll production and related activities, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Maintain accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow, and revenue systems.
  • Prepare and monitor the organization's annual operating budget and cash flow projections.
  • Ensure compliance with financial administration of grants and contracts.
  • Maintain accounting and financial management policies for review by the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Serve as the primary staff contact with the Finance and Operations Committee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar finance position, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including fund accounting and payroll administration.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, MIP Abila) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Ability to prepare budgets and financial reports and effectively communicate financial information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with government contracts and grants administration.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience in writing reports and business correspondence.
