About the position

The Finance Manager at Us Helping Us will be responsible for overseeing the organization's financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance. This role is critical in maintaining the financial health of the organization, managing budgets, forecasting, and supporting various programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of marginalized communities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage annual budget and meet with program staff leads to review budget versus actual reports.
  • Manage monthly budgeting and forecasting for grants, contracts, and insurance billing.
  • Prepare monthly revenue and expense variance reports for stakeholders.
  • Manage grant and contract revenue and expenses in financial management reporting systems.
  • Review transactions charged to grants and contracts for compliance with budget and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit grant and contract invoices, monitoring reimbursement activities.
  • Work with external CPA firm for month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Review and reconcile employee time sheets for compliance with grant budgets.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of document management systems.
  • Monitor cash flow and manage working capital to meet financial obligations.
  • Serve as point of contact with external auditors and CPA firms during audits.
  • Prepare financial reports for foundations, corporations, and federal grants.
  • Assist in preparation of reconciliations and supporting schedules for audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or management.
  • 5+ years of grants management experience focusing on accounting, compliance, and systems development.
  • Knowledge of tax and compliance implications of 501c3 nonprofit status.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and Uniform Grant Guidance, including Single Audits.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Not-for-profit audit experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite.
