About the position

The Finance Manager at Walgreens is responsible for providing financial expertise and business support to a designated business area, guiding management on financial-related matters and decisions. This role involves managing daily financial inquiries, contributing to the development and execution of business priorities, and leading the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets. The Finance Manager collaborates with various teams to ensure effective execution and delivery of customer value, while also identifying opportunities for process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business management to understand key business drivers and strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with management and support teams for effective execution and positive business results.
  • Develop a cross-functional team approach to provide financial management support.
  • Lead the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Perform analyses of variances compared to plans and forecasts.
  • Prepare presentations and documentation for budget and forecast information.
  • Address issues with teams to develop action plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and practices.
  • Support monthly reviews and business planning sessions.
  • Evaluate financial and operational results and contribute to key initiatives.
  • Analyze investments and develop business cases for projects.
  • Directly manage team members and assist in their development and training.
  • Participate in medium-term and strategic planning for the assigned business area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management, quantitative analysis or economics OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years of experience in an analytical role.
  • At least 2 years of experience identifying operational issues and recommending strategies to resolve them.
  • At least 2 years of experience applying analytics principles.
  • At least 2 years of experience with project management.
  • Experience as a financial liaison on a business team.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • At least 1 year of direct or indirect leadership experience.
