About the position

The Finance Manager at Somersett Owners Association is responsible for safeguarding the financial assets of the organization and its sub-associations. This role involves upholding high accounting and ethical standards, managing financial activities in accordance with industry practices, and overseeing all procedures related to accounts receivables, payables, budgeting, and financial reporting. The Finance Manager will also implement internal control processes and manage day-to-day financial actions to ensure the financial health of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring compliance with HOA and financial regulations.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including vendor invoice processing and homeowner payment collections.
  • Assist in budget preparation and financial planning for the SOA, ensuring alignment with community goals and reserve requirements.
  • Monitor delinquent accounts and initiate appropriate collections actions in accordance with Somersett's collection policies.
  • Reconcile financial records, ensuring accurate posting of assessments and payments, and manage month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Utilize VMS or similar financial management software to monitor homeowner accounts, process assessments, and apply late fees.
  • Support annual audits by preparing and providing necessary financial reports and documentation.
  • Collaborate with management to analyze financial data and provide insights for decision-making.
  • Establish controls necessary to assure the accuracy and security of all financial records and funds; evaluate performance of accounting procedures, and systems.
  • Coordinate communications with the SOA's external auditor and implement changes as recommended.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend investment strategies to the Budget & Finance Committee, Board of Directors, and Community Manager.
  • Attend Board meetings, committee meetings, and staff meetings as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Minimum of three years of accounting experience, with experience in HOA financial management preferred.
  • Familiarity with accounting software; preferably Village Management Systems (VMS) or similar HOA management software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to interpret and execute verbal and written instructions proficiently.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for providing excellent customer service and being an effective member of a small team of professionals with can-do spirit.
  • Knowledge of advanced principles, practices, and standards of cost and accrual accounting, treasury management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
