The Finance Manager will be responsible for preparing and managing the annual budget, providing detailed financial reports, analyzing monthly financial data, and monitoring clinician progress to ensure that financial goals are met. In addition to these responsibilities, the Finance Manager will research and recommend policies aimed at mitigating financial risks, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and maintaining robust internal controls. This role also includes managing Patient Billing and Purchasing work groups, supervising related staff, and addressing patient insurance issues. The Finance Manager will monitor high-dollar transactions and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the financial operations within the department. Furthermore, the Finance Manager will be tasked with creating budget projections, managing accounts receivable, and maintaining fee schedules to optimize the financial health of the clinic. This position is pivotal in ensuring that the financial operations align with the overall goals of the UCSF School of Medicine and contribute to the department's academic, teaching, patient care, and research activities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and oversee financial processes for the O&P department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 6 or more years of experience in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Broad knowledge of financial transactions and financial systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels.
  • Strong skills in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a varied, high-volume environment.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
