About the position

The Finance Manager at Hip Hop Caucus is responsible for leading the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This role involves overseeing key accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining the integrity of financial systems. The Finance Manager will work closely with the Senior Director of Finance to support the organization's mission through effective financial management and collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day financial operations over accounting and accounts payable.
  • Manage general ledger activities to ensure timely reporting.
  • Record all revenue received and monitor outstanding receivables.
  • Support the Senior Director of Finance with annual budget development.
  • Perform timely and accurate monthly closes in conjunction with the Senior Director of Finance.
  • Ensure all financial systems remain synchronized and integrated.
  • Build a strong cross-departmental collaborative culture focused on customer service orientation.
  • Oversee accounts payable via Bill.com, ensuring proper routing and payment of invoices.
  • Process credit card transactions and assist in other accounting functions as needed.
  • Manage vendor relationships and respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations of HHC's bank accounts.
  • Train staff on finance systems and onboard new staff to finance platforms.
  • Enter all donations into the accounting system and monitor pledges.
  • Assist in monthly close by reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Support audit preparations and follow-up on auditor queries.
  • Assist in the preparation of IRS Form 990 and 1099.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience in a financial or business role.
  • Experience with fund accounting and GAAP for non-profits.
  • Knowledge of multi-source budgets and managing restricted/unrestricted funds.
  • Expertise in tracking funding streams and ensuring grant compliance.
  • Familiarity with IRS non-profit regulations and financial reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certification(s) preferred but not required.
  • Experience with data interpretation and financial problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
