About the position

The Finance Regulatory Reporting Associate at SMBC is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an effective exception management process for Regulatory Reporting. This role involves interacting with various business areas to ensure exceptions are identified, monitored, documented, reported, and escalated appropriately. The associate will also support the Regulatory Control Governance team in corrective action planning and strategy development based on exception analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, escalate, and report issues/exceptions to management or other relevant stakeholders on a periodic/daily basis.
  • Monitor the remediation of issues/exceptions to ensure they are resolved satisfactorily and on a timely basis.
  • Conduct strong analytical thinking and root-cause analysis for exception management efforts.
  • Process data, metrics, and provide analyses and interpretation of exception management results, assisting in the correlation of findings to risk and control self-assessment results.
  • Maintain exception management data (key performance and key risk indicators).

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of knowledge and experience in regulatory reporting and/or financial industry control environment through monitoring exception management, issue tracking, or incident maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a proactive, collaborative, simplistic manner, building relationships through solid, timely communication and useful information.
  • Financial product knowledge and/or understanding of middle office and trade life-cycle process and reporting is a plus.
  • Good stakeholder management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with analytical data/reporting tools such as Business Object, OBIEE, Alteryx, and SPECTAR.
  • Knowledge in SQL and experience in querying databases is a plus.
