About the position

The Product Controller role supports the Prime Services Trading desk, focusing on the accurate reporting of trading results across various financial products. This position involves collaboration with multiple departments to ensure timely P&L reporting, management commentaries, and exception processing, while also handling ad hoc requests and providing analytical support.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Prime Services Trading desk by ensuring timely and accurate reporting of trading results.
  • Perform P&L Validation and Analysis, including clean P&L and journal entry review.
  • Prepare management commentaries related to P&L, clean P&L, price testing, and inventory analysis.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account ownership reconciliation and legal entity reporting.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from various areas, including Front Office, Tax, and Regulatory.
  • Assist in Sarbanes Oxley testing and documentation.
  • Provide daily interaction and primary support for front office ad hoc requests.
  • Support UAT for strategic system rollouts and new business initiatives.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in financial services, banking, or accounting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with senior management and clients.
  • High level of numeracy and literacy with attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Experience with Business Objects and Essbase is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and identify core themes and trends.
  • Inquisitiveness and willingness to challenge and ask questions.
  • Good communication skills, particularly in written prose and graphical analysis.
  • Understanding of escalation processes for management attention.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines on a daily basis.
  • Comfortable with data presentation and manipulation.
  • Familiarity with financial systems and reporting packages, including General Ledger queries.
  • Ability to apply key controls to reporting and processes.
  • Ability to interact with clients for all aspects of MI (budgeting, planning, reporting, forecasting, allocations).
