About the position

The Financial Accountant/Analyst position at Elkhart Clinic is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting financial data to support the organization's financial operations. This role requires strong analytical skills and advanced expertise in Excel, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Controller and contribute to various financial tasks, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and data analysis to inform strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Create monthly close journal entries including expense accruals for multi-specialty clinic.
  • Provide sufficient and appropriate supporting documentation for all journal entries.
  • Assist with preparation of the monthly balance sheet and income statement including account analysis and detailed variance explanations on multiple entities.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis resolving unreconciled amounts in a timely manner.
  • Independently identify, research, and provide recommendations for resolution to any accounting issues, consistent with a comprehensive understanding of best practices accounting practices.
  • Generate accurate and concise reports based on extensive data analysis of a wide range of finance data points.
  • Work independently, with broadly defined work objectives, and limited supervision and review of overall results.
  • Prepare assigned areas of annual budget in an accurate, timely, and complete manner and provide variance analysis to department managers/directors as needed.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Cross train and serve as a back-up to the accounting department.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in accounting from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in professional accounting in a healthcare setting.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between income statements, balance sheets, and financial trends.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ADP payroll and Oracle NetSuite is a plus.
