About the position

Waters Corporation is seeking a financial accountant to join the Corporate Accounting & Finance team, reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Finance. This person will play a key role in supporting the Corporate Accounting department by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with the quarterly & annual external SEC financial statements, supporting the monthly accounting close, assisting with our worldwide lease accounting administration system, and acting as a strategic financial business partner to our U.S. Benefits team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries for various accounting transactions.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support internal & external auditors during audit reviews.
  • Assist in the quarterly and annual SEC financial statements and filings.
  • Assist with financial & variance analysis to support decision-making processes and identify trends or issues for the U.S. Benefits team.
  • Assist in the preparation of employee benefit plan audits and financial statements.
  • Assist with the administration of our global lease accounting system.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of public accounting or other relevant financial experience, preferably within a global publicly traded company; previous 'Big 4' experience is a plus, though not required.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Desire to collaborate and work across functions and ability to maintain and foster relationships.
