About the position

The Financial Accounting Analyst Sr. at Elevance Health plays a crucial role in providing technical leadership and setting the strategic direction for various financial projects. This position is integral to managing the close processes, conducting related analysis, and generating comprehensive reporting. The analyst will be responsible for leading teams of associates, ensuring that all financial activities align with the company's objectives and standards. In this role, the analyst will review and approve journal entries and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. They will prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial reports, along with complex analyses that provide insights into the company's financial health. The analyst will also design research plans for data gathering and analysis, managing projects to meet established deadlines. A significant aspect of this position involves the initiation and resolution of complex accounting problems that require a high level of technical expertise. The analyst will also take on a mentorship role, training and coaching lower-level accountants to foster their professional development and ensure a high standard of work within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manages close processes, related analysis and reporting.
  • May lead teams of associates.
  • Reviews and approves journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepares and reviews monthly and quarterly financial reports and complex analysis.
  • Designs research plans for data gathering and analysis and manages projects to deadlines.
  • Responsible for initiation and resolution of complex accounting problems requiring technical expertise.
  • Mentors, trains, and coaches lower level accountants.

Requirements

  • Requires BA/BS in Accounting or Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in general accounting, finance or budgeting and planning in a large for profit organization.
  • Any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Nice-to-haves
